Dr Adie Viljoen

Senior Lecturer in Medicine

Dr Adie Viljoen is a Consultant Chemical Pathologist and Lipidologist at the Lister Hospital (East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust) in Stevenage, UK.

He is also a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Postgraduate Medical School (BHPMS) where he is working to develop a distance learning programme in diabetes which will incorporate and expand the current MSc programme in Diabetes. This will broaden the scope of the current programmes whilst allowing more flexibility for students.

Dr Viljoen’s othter interests include cardiovascular risk prevention, diabetic dyslipidaemia and diabetes in older people. He is the author of more than 40 papers in peer reviewed medical journals as well as several chapters in medical textbooks. His most recent publication is on the ‘Safety and efficacy of rosiglitazone in the elderly diabetic patient’. Vascular Health and Risk Management 2009:5 389-375.
