Focus Group projects

In 2011, IDOP was involved in organising two focus groups with Michael Woodroffe and Hugh Kingwell from the East of England. These focus groups centred around exploring some of the key issues in delivering diabetes care to older people, such as hypoglycaemia, medication use, care home diabetes, and diabetes education.

Dr Charles Fox of Northampton, supported by Dr Chris Gillespie, will lead a new initiative in 2012 in the area of Focus Group methods to enhance diabetes care in older people. Dr Fox, who has a national reputation in diabetes education, has already begun the development of the methodology to support these activities.

Dr Fox and Dr Gillespie will explore some of the key factors which will enable them to develop an innovative diabetes educational approach for older people.
