Professor Angus Forbes

FEND Chair of Diabetes Nursing

Professor Forbes holds the FEND Chair of Diabetes Nursing. He is based at King’s college London and has held an honorary post as a specialist diabetes nurse at King’s College Hospital since 2003. Professor Forbes is an active researcher in diabetes. His recent studies include: a national scoping project on diabetes care and organisation; an assessment of the nursing contribution to chronic disease management (diabetes); the relationship between cognitive impairment and diabetic retinopathy; supporting patients in insulin intensification;  and evaluating a telecare intervention to support weight loss in type 2 diabetes. He is a member of the National Older People’s Steering Group for Diabetes, led by Professor Sinclair as IDOP Director.

Professor Forbes also runs a wide range of different courses for health professionals in diabetes. He has an interest in E-health and psychological interventions in diabetes. Angus was previously a senior lecturer in diabetes at King’s College London and a lecturer in health services research at University College London Medical School.
